Hitmen Rally Earns Point in OT Loss

Regina, SK - Logan Nijhoff scored 30 seconds into overtime to lead the Regina Pats past the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 on Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

After Calgary opened the scoring, they erased deficits of 2-1 and 4-2 to force the extra session.

James Malm netted a pair of goals for the Hitmen with Mark Kastelic and Vladislav Yeryomenko adding singles. Kastelic chipped in a pair of assists for a team-leading three points. Carson Focht and Kaden Elder also added a pair of helpers.

The Pats received their goals from five different players with Garrett Wright, Duncan Pierce, Austin Pratt and Carter Massier rounding out the scoring.

The Hitmen outshot Regina 41-30 and have now picked up points in 11 of their last 14 games posting a record of 9-3-2 in that span.

Calgary's three-game East Division road trip and four-game road swing wraps up in Swift Current, tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 23 with the start of a home-and-home set against the Broncos.

The rematch at the Scotiabank Saddledome goes on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The 11 a.m. start is the TELUS BE BRAVE Anti-Bullying game.

It is also the last game of February. Over 14,000 Calgary and area students will be in attendance to learn about acceptance and bullying prevention from two guest speakers, concourse displays and in-game activities. Akeem Haynes, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and self-help author, will speak in the first intermission while Rilee Manybears, athlete from Siksika Nation and ambassador for the AMA Youth Run Club, will address the crowd in the second intermission. Both speakers are presented by A1 Chesney Service Experts.
