Hitmen Fall to Wild 3-2 in Overtime

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen open a three-game homestand tonight by hosting the Wenatchee Wild at Scotiabank Saddledome for the first time.

Maxim Muranov kicked things off early for Calgary with the opening goal just 20 seconds into the first. His goal would be followed up by Pasha Bocharov making it 2-0 Calgary with his first goal as a Hitmen.

It was a scoreless second period, with Calgary keeping Wenatchee off the scoresheet. The third period would see the visitors get on the board with a power play goal from Steven Arp. They would follow up only 25 seconds later to tie the game at two with a marker from Calean Joudrey. Calgary killed off four power plays in the third including one in the final two minutes pushing the game to overtime. It was overage defenceman Graham Sward who would net the game winner for Wenatchee 57 seconds into extra minutes.

Ethan Buenaventura made 39 saves in tonight's contest earning him first star. With the regulation loss by the Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight, Calgary in now within one point of the eighth final playoff spot.

Calgary is back in the Saddledome on Sunday, Feb. 25 to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 2:00 p.m. in another Sunday Funday presented by Brookfield Residential. Calgary will then host Edmonton on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the annual TELUS BE BRAVE #EndBullying game.
