Calgary, AB - Adam Tambellini scored 16:36 into overtime giving the Calgary Hitmen a 3-2 win over the Kootenay Ice on Sunday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The win squares the best-of-seven first round WHL playoff series a game apiece.

Rookie forward Pavel Karnaukhov (KAR-nuh-kov) had a monster game for the Hitmen, scoring twice before setting up Tambellini's winner.

After a scoreless opening period, it was Karnaukov who put the Hitmen on the scoreboard first, netting a powerplay goal midway through the second frame.

The Ice bounced back scoring a pair of goals just over two minutes apart on markers from Sam Reinhart and Jaedon Descheneau to lead 2-1 after forty minutes.

Karnaukhov drew the Hitmen even, adding his second powerplay goal of the game, midway through the third period leading to Tambellini's overtime heroics.

Kootenay outshot Calgary 37-33 with Mack Shields making 19 saves on 19 shots in a relief appearance to record the win.
