Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls, NY After participating in the longest game on Saturday night against the Albany Dutchman, the Golden Eagles beat the Newark Pilots 3-1 in a brisk two hours and twenty minutes.

In that situation, with the bases loaded, you're just trying to get a ball you can elevate. Stated Buddy Putnam (South Florida) on his sac fly.

The Golden Eagles scored two on the play as the second run crossed on a throwing error by Pilots third baseman David Vandercook (Columbia). Glens Falls would tack on an insurance in the seventh when Josh Anderson (Florida International) singled home Ramon Laureano (NE Oklahoma A&M).

The lone run of the game for the Pilots came on a Jake Russell (Kentucky) sac fly with the bases loaded in the fifth.

Pitching was the story tonight for the Golden Eagles as starter Andy Cheray (Missouri State) gave up one run on four hits. Cheray also struck out four batters and escaped a bases loaded and nobody out jam in the fifth while allowing just one run.

I fell into a good tempo, stated Armand Rugel (Stonehill), and felt like I could command every pitch. Rugel came out of the bullpen and worked three perfect innings to record his second save of the season.

The Golden Eagles are back at home on Tuesday against their rival the Amsterdam Mohawks. First pitch from East Field is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
