Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack, in partnership with Hyde Construction Limited of Stratford, ON. is announcing the Hishon for Hodgkin's promotion that will see Hyde Construction make a charitable donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of Brittany Taylor for every goal and assist that Stratford native Joey Hishon scores on home ice for the remainder of the 2009/2010 regular season.
Brittany Taylor (15) is from Stratford and has just been diagnosed Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Brittany, the daughter of two time Stanley Cup Champion Tim Taylor and Jodilynn Taylor are close family friends of Peter Hyde and his family of Hyde Construction Limited.
Hyde Construction Limited will donate $100.00 for every goal and $50.00 for every assist that Joey Hishon scores on home ice for the remainder of the 2009/2010 regular season. "When me and my family found out the news (about Brittany) we were a little sad, but it's a small community that we live in so when I got talking to my friend Spencer (Peter's son) he came up with this idea and I just wanted to do my part to help out." Hishon stated before his Tuesday morning skate. The 18 year old forward went on to say that "you never like to see anything like this happen to anybody. Cancer has touched everybody's lives at some point and any time you can play a small part in finding a cure, you should jump at that chance."
Hyde Construction Limited, which was found by Peter J. Hyde in Stratford, ON. in 1988 has supported hundreds of causes in Stratford and surrounding area over the years and the founder points out that this time is no different. "Brittany has a lot of spirit and character...she is a very strong person and we know she will beat this, but this can happen to anybody and awareness needs to be raised. Joey (Hishon) is a fine young man and the youth in this community look up to him. He is setting a great example for the younger kids by doing this."
Fans wishing to donate to Brittany's cause can stop by the Owen Sound Attack Office or the Fan Services table beginning Saturday, January 30th vs. the Guelph Storm. All of the money raised through this initiative will be combined with the funds raised from the "Attack Fight Back Against Cancer" event taking place at the Bayshore on March 6th.
