THIS SERIES: The Hops and Boise meet for a three-game set in Boise. The Hawks trail the Hops by three games in the South Division with 14 games remaining in the first half.

LAST SERIES: The Hops lost in Keizer 5-1 on Friday and 7-6 on Saturday, before salvaging the final game, 11-9. The finale featured four lead changes: after the Hops led 3-0, they trailed 5-3, led 8-5, trailed 9-8 and won 11- 9. Hillsboro scored three times in the 9th inning- once on a Nate Robertson single to tie the game 9- 9, and twice on a Pedro Ruiz home run... just the fourth home run of his 297-game career.

ROSTER MOVES: Catcher Nate Irving (34th round 2014, U. of Virginia) has been officially added to the Hops roster after signing last week. Irving was named to this year's College World Series all-tournament team after going 4-for-13 in Omaha with a key 15th-inning double to help beat TCU. His Cavaliers lost to Vandy in the finals. See more details about Irving later in these notes. ... 1B/3B Cesar Carrasco, who had missed 18 of the last 19 games with a shoulder injury, has been traded to the Astros organization for Double-A relief pitcher Alex Sogard, brother of current A's infielder (and former Portland Beaver) Eric Sogard.

Alex Sogard has been assigned to Double-A Mobile.

C Elvin Soto is 16 for his last 34, raising his avg from .136 to .328. (He would be 7th in the NWL, but is 3 PA shy of qualifying)... LHP Zac Curtis struck out the side in order on Sun. to preserve the 11-9 win at S-K. Over his previous 2+ games, 9 of the previous 15 hitters reached base, following a dominant start to his pro career... RHP Cody Geyer had retired 16 of the last 17 batters to face him over 4 games, but over last 2 games, 9 of 15 have reached base (but 3 on Es)...

RHP Dustin Loggins allowed 3r in 1.2 ip in his 1st affiliated-ball outing (Op. Night in EVT); since then is 1-0, 0.93, 9.2ip, 9h, 1r, 5bb, 16k.
