THE HILLCATS: Yesterday the Hillcats earned their first series victory of the season with a 5-1 win over the Nationals at City Stadium...The win moved Lynchburg back into sole possession of first place in the Northern Division...Tonight is the first game of a four-game series and the fifth game of an eight-game homestand to open the season for the Cats...11 of the first 14 games of the year for Lynchburg are at Calvin Falwell Field...

VS. WINSTON-SALEM: Last season when the Dash were the Warthogs, the Hillcats (both then and now) went 6-14 against Winston-Salem...The Dash are playing game four of a 14-game road trip to open the season...

EARLY JITTERS: Through four games the Hillcats have committed eight errors...Seven of which have come in the last three games...Three of those defensive lapses have been by SS Jordy Mercer who has committed three errors in the last two games...Last year Lynchburg committed 164 errors in 138 games, which was the second worst fielding percentage in the league...

THE EARLY BIRD: Last night the Hillcats scored first for the first time this season as they scored a run in the opening frame for the first time this year...In the first three games of the past series the Nationals scored first to take an early lead...

TRUE NORTH STRONG: With the addition of RHP Chris Cullen on Saturday, the Hillcats now have four Canadian born players...Cullen, RHP Tom Boleska, RHP Dustin Molleken, and C Joel Collins all were born and still reside in The Great White North...

LEAGUE LEADERS: RHP Dustin Molleken is leading the Carolina League with two wins in as many appearances this season...The righty is yet to allow a run and has struck out seven batters (second in the league) in five innings of work...3B Pedro Alvarez is also leading the league in RBI with six...

COLD FRONT: After starting his professional career on Thursday with a 3-for-4 performance with a double, a homer, two runs scored and four RBI, 3B Pedro Alvarez has gone 0-for-13 in the last three games...

RIGHT AT HOME: UTIL Eddie Prasch made his 2009 debut last night and went 1-for-1 with a double, a run scored and two RBI...The returning Hillcat doubled in his first plate appearance of the season and drove-in a run to make it 2-0 Cats...

NO DROP-OFF: LHP Chi-Hung Cheng started yesterdays game for Lynchburg in place of the injured RHP Bryan Morris...Cheng did not allow a run in four innings of work and put Lynchburg in line for the win...In two appearances this season Cheng has not allowed a run in five innings of work...Last season with Lansing he pitched both out of the bullpen and the starting rotation as well (25 games, 14 starts)...

AFFILIATED BALL DEBUT: RHP Chris Cullen made his affiliated baseball debut yesterday for the Hillcats...The former Michigan State Spartan pitched in the Golden League last season for the Edmonton Cracker-Cats...The right hander went 5-1 with a 3.20 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) for Edmonton last year...In his two inning outing yesterday he finished the game after allowing a run on three hits and striking out a batter...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Johnnie Lowe was taken in the 6th round of the 2007 draft of Point Loma Nazarene University by the White Sox...His final year there he went 4-5 with a 3.72 ERA in 13 games (11 starts)...He made his professional debut with rookie league Great Falls and went 4-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 15 starts...Last season Lowe pitched for Low-A Kannapolis and went 5-7 with a 4.10 ERA in 22 games (16 starts)...He makes his first appearance at the Advanced-A level tonight...
