THE HILLCATS: Last night Lynchburg completed a three-game sweep of Salem with a 2-1 win...It is the first series sweep by the Hillcats this season...Tonight they open up a three-game series with Frederick and play game four game of a nine-game homestand...

VS. FREDERICK: The Keys are 7-3 against the Hillcats this season...The Cats have the all-time advantage 141-124, and are 73-61 at home...Last year the Hillcats dominated the series with the Keys, winning 15 out of 20 games in 2007, including seven out of ten at City Stadium...

HEATING UP: The month of June saw the temperatures rise and the Hillcats play their best baseball of the season...They went 13-13 in June (their best month of the year) and are 4-0 so far in July...They have now won five straight games for the first time all season, won nine out of their last eleven, and their series sweep of Salem has given them four straight series wins for the first time all year...If the playoffs were to start today the Hillcats would be in, as they are currently alone in second place behind the first half champion Potomac Nationals...

SEEKING SUPPORT: LHP Tony Watson dealt six scoreless innings, matched his season-high with seven strikeouts last night and got a no-decision to show for it...The lefty is tied with LHP Brian Holliday for the worst run support on the team (4.1 runs per game)...He now has four appearances this season in which he has gone at least five innings and allowed one earned run or less and gotten a loss or a no-decision...In his last two starts Watson has pitched a combined 12 and 1/3 innings, allowed just one earned run and he did not get a win despite his efforts...

ONE ALL-STAR FOR ANOTHER: The Hillcats have replaced injured All-Star shortstop Brian Friday (Carolina League) with All-Star shortstop Jose De Los Santos (South Atlantic League) from Hickory...After a 3-for-18 start with the Cats, De Los Santos has gone 7-for-11 in his last three games and has six hits in his last two...He also has stolen four straight bases, including a career-high and Hillcat season-high three bases last night, after he got caught stealing in first three attempts in the Green & Gold...

LATE INNNING HEROICS: Last night the Hillcats plated a run in the bottom of the eighth to snap a 1-1 tie to give themselves a 2-1 win...It was the seventh time this season the Cats won in their final at-bat...On Thursday night they came from three runs down in the ninth to tie the game and then won it in the 12th inning...It was just the second time all season that they have won when trailing entering the ninth (2-40), just the fourth time this year that they came back when trailing in the seventh inning or later and just the fifth time that they have come back when trailing through five (5-36)...

GOING STREAKING: 3B Jim Negrych went 2-for-3 last night with a double and an RBI to extend his current hitting streak to 16 games...Negrych now has the longest hit streak of the season by a Hillcat, OF Eddie Prasch had a 13-game streak early this year...Over this stretch he has gone 27-for-62 (.436) with ten doubles, a triple, 13 runs scored and six RBI...

ZERO TO HERO: UTIL Miles Durham went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth that gave the Hillcats the lead for good and gave him the game-winning hit for the second straight night...Thursday night he snapped an 0-for-21 start with the Cats by knocking an RBI double in the second inning...He would later end the ballgame with his first home run at the Advanced-A level when he hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 12th inning...Durham was a mid-season All-Star for Hickory and was leading the league in hits (100), slugging percentage (.585), tied for first in RBI (57), was second in batting average (.348), extra-base hits (39), runs (53), tied for second in doubles (24) and was third in home runs (14) at the time of his call-up...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Pedro Beato was a supplemental first round draft pick (32nd overall) of the Orioles in 2006 out of St. Petersburg College...He made his professional debut with short season Low-A Aberdeen in 2006 and went 3-2 with 3.63 in 14 games (10 starts)...Last season was his first full season and he played for Delmarva were he posted a 7-8 mark and 4.05 ERA in 27 starts...This year with Frederick he has gone 3-3 with a 4.20 ERA in eight starts...He has also made two appearances this season with the GCL Orioles with no decisions and a 2.53 ERA in two starts...This year against Lynchburg he has gone 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in two starts...
