
Hillcats Drop Game to Cannon Ballers

The Lynchburg Hillcats' bats stayed quiet for most of the game as they fall to the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 5-3 on Wednesday night.
The Cannon Ballers (28-28) were carried by a five-run third inning to propel themselves to the victory over the Hillcats (24-31).
Kannapolis did all their damage in the third inning as they batted around the order off of Ryan Webb. The Cannon Ballers put up five runs during the inning, capped off by a Victor Torres two-run single.
From there, the pitching settled down for the Hillcats. The bullpen pitched six scoreless innings behind Zach Pettway, Wardquelin Vasquez, and Josh Wolf. The trio combined for nine strikeouts out of the pen.
The Hillcats were held silent until two outs in the ninth when Carson Tucker would drive home Isaiah Greene. Richard Paz would drive a single into center to tack on two more runs. However, the Hillcats would leave the tying run at the dish to end the ballgame.
Kannapolis and Lynchburg will square off for game three of the series on Thursday night at Bank of the James Stadium First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
