
Higley and Sosa Lead Vermont Past Connecticut

Burlington, VT - The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Connecticut Tigers by a score of 5-1 at Centennial Field Saturday night. In the win, Lake Monsters LF Justin Higley (2-3) was one of two MVP's for the team Saturday. Higley had a four RBI performance that included a three-run homerun in the third inning which was difference in the baseball game. Against the Tigers in the four games, Higley has two homeruns and 10 RBI's.
RHP Lee Sosa (1-0) was the other MVP performance from the Lake Monsters on Saturday night. Sosa pitched four shutout innings while giving up a pair of hits and striking out three. In his only two games played, Sosa has pitched nine shutout innings this season all against the Tigers.
The Tigers did not get much offensive help in the game. As the team they were 4-30 at the plate and left seven on base. The Tigers managed to get one run in the game on an RBI groundout from LF Ben Verlander (2-4) in the seventh inning that scored 2B Domingo Leyba (0-4).
The Tigers and Lake Monsters wrap up their three-game series tomorrow evening. Tigers RHP Confesor Lara (0-1, 9.00) is slated to face Vermont's RHP Cristhian Perez (1-0, 0.00). Pre-game radio coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com .
