The winner of the Cape Breton vs Saint John game will end the season in third place and will take on the Halifax Hurricanes in the playoffs. The loser will meet the Moncton Magic.
Highlanders founder, Tyrone Levingston, wants a win. "Certainly, I would like a win for our team to finish higher in the standings, but I also want to give our fans the opportunity to cheer on our team against the Halifax Hurricanes in the battle for Nova Scotia."
The Halifax Hurricanes also have two siblings on their roster with Cape Breton connections. 6'8" Meshack Lufile played for the CBU Capers, and 6'9" Chadrack Lufile played with the Highlanders in season one.
Levingson added, "Thursday's game against the Saint John Riptide is going to be tough as they have been playing well, while we are nursing some injuries and have a small roster. We really need our fans to come out and support the team and be our sixth man."
The Highlanders also announced that forward Landon Atterberry has been released.
Tip off on Thursday is 7pm at Centre 200 versus the Saint John Riptide. This game was previously scheduled for January 20 but was postponed due to weather. Fans with tickets to the original January 20 game can use the same tickets for admission.
