Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 20, Riptide 30
The game opened with three-pointers from both teams but the Riptide were able to grab the early lead by playing aggressive defence and attacking the basket. The Highlanders had trouble getting the ball to drop from the field but continued to shoot in an effort to close the gap. The Highlanders trailed by ten at the end of the quarter.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 37, Riptide 51
The Highlanders continued to struggle shooting from the field and the Riptide were able to get behind the Highlanders defence to extend their lead. The Riptide played a fast paced game on both sides of the court in an effort to end the Highlanders winning streak. The Highlanders adjusted their game and were able to draw fouls to earn points from the free-throw line, but the Riptide continued to play well and gained a 17-point lead, ending the half up by 14.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 69, Riptide 69
The Highlanders came out strong at the beginning of the second half, going on a 10-point run to close the gap in the score. The Highlanders were also good at recovering defensive rebounds throughout the game, no doubt helping them to keep the game within reach. The Highlanders finally found their rhythm when shooting and then the game turned into an exciting defensive contest with good stops from both teams. The Highlanders tied the game in the final minute of the third quarter, 69 - 69.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 97, Riptide 94
The Highlanders took the lead to start the final frame, but the Riptide were able to tie it again with just under nine minutes left to play. It was a close game, with both teams evenly matched, but the Highlanders were able to maintain their momentum from the third quarter to grab a 12-point lead in the fourth with 3-minutes to play. The Riptide weren't ready to give up and brought the game within 1 point in the final seconds when Kenny Jones hit 2 free throws to put the Highlanders up 3 and complete the comeback for their seventh win a row.
