Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 27, Sudbury 22
The Highlanders welcomed the Sudbury Five for their first game home after a 4-game Ontario road trip. The game started with both teams exchanging baskets and playing good defense. Cape Breton was able to keep a lead throughout most of the quarter and finished the period up 5 points.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 46, Sudbury 53
The Sudbury Five started the second quarter flying, going on a 20-6 run. Highlanders struggled in the rebound category, giving up 10 offensive rebounds in the first half. Cape Breton struggled to make shots, and saw their lead slip away. Both teams ended the half playing good basketball, but the hot start by Sudbury gave them the lead heading into the 2nd half.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 71, Sudbury 84
Sudbury started the quarter with a 17-6 run to add to their lead. As the quarter went on, Cape Breton slowly chipped away at the deficit, bringing the game closer. Sudbury's 3-point shooting throughout the game played a big factor in maintaining their lead. The highlanders found themselves with a steep hill to climb, down 13, heading into the final quarter.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 106, Sudbury 116
The Highlanders came out strong, scoring 9 unanswered points, to bring the lead down to just 4 points. As the quarter went on, Sudbury wouldn't let Cape Breton take the lead, hitting big shots when they needed. The game was close and down to the wire, but Sudbury's clutch 3-point shooting and rebounding were too much for the Highlanders down the stretch.
