Game Highlights
Quarter 1: Highlanders 31, Storm 28
The Highlanders came into Friday night's game facing the PEI Storm, who were just coming off of a 39 point win over the Kitchener Waterloo Titans, Thursday night. It was also the debut of Highlanders Devin Sweetney and Jerome Seagears. Cape Breton jumped out to an early lead, but the Storm wouldn't let the Highlanders gain much of an advantage. After the first few minutes, both teams would trade baskets and Cape Breton would find themselves up 3 points at the end of the quarter.
Quarter 2: Highlanders 63, Storm 54
The second quarter was similar to the first with both teams exchanging baskets for most of the quarter. Cape Breton would slowly add to their lead. Their offence looked unstoppable as they put up 63 points at half, with Devin Sweetney and Deshaunt Walker providing most of the offence.
Quarter 3: Highlanders 89, Storm 80
The second half started off with the Island Storm going on a 7-0 in the first minute and a half to tie the game. After a Highlanders timeout, they followed the Storm's run with a 12-2 run of their own to regain control of the game. Cape Breton was able to maintain a solid lead and headed into the final quarter up 9 points.
Quarter 4: Highlanders 115, Storm 123
The final quarter saw the Storm come out with high intensity. They slowly cut down the Highlanders lead and tied the game with 7 minutes to go. Down the stretch both teams traded leads. PEI's Guillaume Boucard took over and made big shots down the stretch, finishing with 39 points. Cape Breton couldn't find a way to stop Boucard and PEI took the win.
