High Point Rockers News Release
HIGH POINT, NC - The High Point Convention and Visitors Bureau (HPCVB), in conjunction with the High Point Rockers baseball team, have enlisted Brian Davis of BRIANSTUDIO to create a beautiful 3-D piece of sidewalk art in front of the High Point Regional Visitor Center that will feature the Triad's newest professional baseball team. Davis, who has created other pieces of sidewalk art and murals across High Point, will begin the project on Friday, October 19th, with completion expected to come by October 26th.
"We are so excited to partner with the HPCVB and BRIANSTUDIO to create a new an engaging piece of art here in High Point," said Christian Heimall, High Point Rockers Assistant General Manager. "Part of the excitement of a new franchise is engraining yourself within your hometown. Working with the HPCVB and BRIANSTUDIO allows us to become an even deeper part of the fabric of High Point while also highlighting the vibrant future of this growing city."
The painting will include a view from centerfield of BB&T Point, the future home of the Rockers, which is still under construction, with a player standing on top of an outfield scoreboard decked out in Rockers colors. Other pieces of baseball paraphernalia will be incorporated, including home plate, a baseball cap, and even some popcorn. The 3-D nature of the art will allow visitors to be a part of the painting as they dig in behind home plate, or "stand" on an adjacent scoreboard looking over the action.
"The timing of our third installation of sidewalk art coincides perfectly with the excitement leading up to the official opening of BB&T Point and the High Point Rockers historic first season," said Melody Burnett, Director of Operations and Finance at HPCVB. "This will be another opportunity to add to the visitor experience by providing a way to engage in public art throughout High Point while encouraging participants to learn more of what High Point has to offer. Locals and visitors alike will be able to promote High Point and support our hometown team by uploading their interactive pictures on social media using #HighPointRocks!"
This painting will be a fun and interactive way to commemorate the eclectic art around High Point, as well as, the new professional sports franchise beginning play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in 2019. Fans will be able to see the art well in to the start of the 2019 season, and are encouraged to visit the "landmark" at 1634 N. Main Street in downtown High Point.
Brian Davis has made a name for himself by creating fun, exciting, and engaging artwork across the City of High Point in what has become known as "Mural Mile". Other works he has produced include the comic book-esque mural on the side of FastSigns on North Main Street, the "Lizard" on the side of BBJ's Restaurant, as well as, a pair of prior 3-D pieces of sidewalk art for the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
