January 19, 2016 - California League (CalL1)
High Desert Mavericks News Release

ADELANTO, Calif. - The High Desert Mavericks, Advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will feature two Education Day games for school groups to come out as an education-filled field trip. The Education Days are scheduled for May 3 and May 18 at 10:35 A.M.

"Kids are the future of our community and this great sport of baseball," stated General Manager Ben Hemmen. "We are very excited to offer students the opportunity to expand on the things they are learning in the classroom and at school in a fun way at Heritage Field."

Education Days are for school groups of 20 or more, the cost of tickets are $2 per individual, and school groups must pre-order tickets. Food/lunch vouchers are available for purchase with tickets, but schools will be able to bring in sack lunches on these days. Additionally, each Education Day date will feature a different focus for the school groups that attend.

Tuesday, May 3 will be centralized around STEM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education, since these fields are deeply intertwined in the real world and in how students learn most effectively in the 21st century.

Wednesday, May 18 will have a focus on PBIS, an acronym for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, which is a nation-wide proactive approach for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.

Teachers and students will also receive a Mavericks educational packet to go along with each education day. Packets are custom to all different levels of education including elementary, middle and high school. If your school is interested in participating in this educational experience, you can contact Shane Philipps for more information at sphilipps@hdmavs.com, or call the Mavericks front office at (760) 246-6287.

The High Desert Mavericks open their 26th season in the High Desert on April 7 against the Inland Empire 66ers. The Mavericks offer a variety of season ticket plans and packages, which are on sale now. Company and group outings may be booked now as well. Individual game tickets will be available for sale in March.

For more information on group outings and ticket packages, call the Mavericks front office at (760) 246-6287 or visit www.hdmavs.com.
