High Desert Mavericks Announce 2016 Schedule

ADELANTO, Calif. - The High Desert Mavericks, Advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will open the 2016 season Thursday, April 7 at Heritage Field. The upcoming season will begin with a seven-game homestand April 7- 13, taking on the Inland Empire 66ers, advanced-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, in a four-game series followed by a three-game set with the Lake Elsinore Storm, advanced-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

"We are thrilled to share with the High Desert our 2016 schedule," said General Manager Ben Hemmen. "Our staff is working hard to get ready for our 26th and best season ever at Heritage Field."

The 2016 schedule features 11 home games in April, 14 in May, 14 in June, 14 in July, 16 in August, and one final regular season game in September. The schedule includes 10 full weekends where the Mavericks will be home on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All nine of the Mavericks' California League opponents will visit Heritage Field at least one series at Heritage Field.

The Mavericks "Texas" rival in the California League, the Lancaster JetHawks, affiliate of the Houston Astros, will make four trips to Heritage Field in 2016: April 21-24, May 20-23, June 27-29, and August 15-18 for a total of 15 games. The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the 2015 California League Champions and affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be at Heritage Field twice, May 6-8 and July 8-11 for a total of seven games.

The Mavericks will face the 66ers for their annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on July 3. Besides opening day, other special game days at Heritage Field include Mother's Day on Sunday, May 8 against the Quakes, and Father's Day on Sunday, June 19 against the Stockton Ports, advanced-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.

The 2016 season will feature familiar promotion nights such as Friday Fireworks and school FUN-raising nights, which were a part of the Mavericks baseball in 2015. Two "Education Day" 10:35 A.M. games have been added to the new schedule on May 3 and May 18 targeted toward school groups to come out as a field trip and an education- filled experience. The Mavericks will also be having their first ever "Day Camp Day" at 10:35 A.M. on July 19.

The California League also celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2016 and will be hosting the 2016 California v. Carolina League All Star Game for a second consecutive year in honor of the league anniversary. The California League was founded in 1941 by a combination of Major League and Pacific Coast clubs and has become the premier Class "A" League in Minor League Baseball producing 17 Hall of Famers. The All Star Game against the Carolina League will be held in Lake Elsinore, CA on June 21.

The High Desert Mavericks enter their 26th season in the High Desert and their second as the advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The team will comprise players from the 2015 playoffs team and will welcome players promoted from the 2015 South Atlantic League Champion Hickory Crawdads, single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers.

The Mavericks offer a variety of season ticket plans and packages, which are on sale now. Company and group outings may be booked now as well.
