Hidalgo Dropped In League And Cup Final

CHICAGO, Illinois - Hidalgo La Fiera dropped their Ron Newman Championship game and U.S. Open Cup final to the Chicago Mustangs by a final score of 14-5 on Sunday night at the Sears Centre Arena.

The Mustangs (18-0) scored three goals in the first quarter when Bryan Moya, Efrain Martinez, and Miguel Vaca scored to give them the edge.

Hidalgo (15-3) scored two goals to trim the Mustang lead to 3-2 when Erick Flores and Robson De Souza provided the goals for La Fiera.

Chicago would increase their lead by two goals when Adrian Ortiz and Martinez put the Mustangs ahead 5-2 and it would be as close as Hidalgo La Fiera would get at break.

The Mustangs scored four goals during the third quarter as Luis Ortega, David Aranda, Moya, and Vaca gave Chicago and 9-2 advantage.

La Fiera scored a consolation goal courtesy of Mark Ughy that made it 8-3. Chicago responded with another Ortiz goal that made it 10-3. De Souza scored another goal for Hidalgo to wrap up the third quarter scoring at 10-4 in favor of the Mustangs.

Chicago padded their lead in the fourth quarter when the Mustangs scored four goals to make it 14-4 game. Hidalgo added one more consolation goal to end the scoring at 14-5.
