VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that Randee Hermus and Raegyn Hall will join head coach Alan Koch's coaching staff for the 2009 season. Hermus will play the duel role as a player and assistant coach, while Hall is returning for his second season as the team's assistant and goalkeeping coach. Diane Voice will once again return as team manager.

An experienced member of the Whitecaps women's team and Canada's women's national team, Hermus is entering her first season as a player-assistant coach with the Whitecaps. The Simon Fraser University (SFU) graduate has played parts of six seasons with the club, including their inaugural W-League season in 2001. Hermus helped Vancouver to W-League championships in 2004 and 2006, and was a member of the 2005 W-League All-Western Conference Team. In total, the 29-year-old defender has played 52 matches, amassing nine goals and three assists. She ranks 14th on the Whitecaps all-time scoring list with 21 points.

Hermus, a native of Langley, BC, earned her first cap with Canada on March 12, 2000, at the Algarve Cup. Since then, Hermus has earned 113 caps and has scored 12 goals at the international level. Last year, she became the fourth member of the Canadian team to earn 100 caps.

Hall returns to the Whitecaps for his second season with the women's team. Like head coach Koch, Hall is also a member of the coaching staff at SFU. The native of Victoria, BC, has coached three seasons with the men's soccer program at SFU and two seasons with the women's program. In addition to his coaching duties with the Whitecaps and SFU, Hall was Canada's U-20 women's national team goalkeeper coach last year, as Canada won the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Puebla, Mexico, and qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008. Hall is also a director and staff coach with the Island Keeper Clinic (IKC) in his hometown of Victoria.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Hall was the starting goalkeeper with the SFU men's team from 2001 to 2004. In 2002 and 2004, we was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-Region Teams and received NAIA All-American Honorable Mentions. Also in 2004, Hall was named co-captain and led the Clan to an Elite 8 appearance at the NAIA National Tournament.

Voice returns for her ninth season as team manager of the Whitecaps W-League team. She has been a member of the ‘Caps family since 1989, when the club was known as the Vancouver 86ers.

The Whitecaps women's team open a month-long training camp today at SFU. The regular season is set to kick off on Saturday, May 16, against Seattle Sounders Women. For information on tickets, please call 604.669.WAVE (9283) or visit whitecapsfc.com.
