
Herd Tames Iowa Wolves

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Wisconsin Herd, the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, beat the Iowa Wolves, 131-117. The two teams traded baskets in the first quarter resulting in eight lead changes until the Herd scored to go up 12-11. The Iowa Wolves came within six points in the third quarter, but the Herd battled them off to keep their lead throughout the rest of the game. The Herd won by a season-high win margin of 14 points.
Lindell Wigginton led the Herd with 30 points and went 7/11 from the three-point line. Wenyen Gabriel posted a double-double with 23 points and a team-season high of 17 rebounds. Tremont Waters tied his season-high and the team's season-high record of 12 assists.
The Iowa Wolves were led by Isaiah Miller with 30 points and Brian Bowen ll added 26 points.
The Herd came out with the lead after a three-point shot from Wenyen Gabriel, but the Iowa Wolves answered quickly to take the lead. The Wolves kept the lead until Jalen Lecque made a layup to put the Herd up 12-11. The two teams went back and forth for the rest of the quarter resulting in eight lead changes. The Herd led at the end of the first quarter 24-22. Jalen Lecque and Jemerrio Jones came off the bench and led the Herd at the quarter with five points. The Herd shot 15.4% (2/13) in three-pointers in the first quarter.
The Herd turned around their three-point shooting, hitting six three-pointers in the second quarter, increasing their percentage to 36.4%. The Wisconsin Herd held the lead throughout the entire second quarter to lead 63-55 at the half. The Herd held the largest lead of the half by 16 points. Lindell Wigginton scored 16 points in the second quarter to lead both teams at the half.
In the first half, the Herd outscored the Iowa Wolves in fast-break points (8-0), points in the paint (36-22) and bench points (27-8). The Wolves had 13 turnovers leading to 22 points for the Herd in the first half. Tremont Waters had six assists and Wenyen Gabriel had eight rebounds at halftime.
Wenyen Gabriel opened the third quarter with the first six points for the Herd. The Herd increased their largest lead of the game to 18 points. The Iowa Wolves came within six points, but the Herd was able to battle them off to keep the lead. Tremont Waters hit his 10th assist of the game with a fast break pass to Wenyen Gabriel with five seconds left in the third quarter. The Herd led at the end of the third quarter 95-81. Lindell Wigginton kept the leading scorer spot with 23 points at the end of the third quarter.
Wenyen Gabriel grabbed two rebounds at the start of the fourth quarter to put him in double digits for rebounds. Rayjon Tucker scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter.
The Wisconsin Herd secured a spot in the Showcase Cup by finishing in the top eight teams in the league in 12 games. They will play again in the Showcase Cup, a single elimination tournament, in Las Vegas starting on December 19th where the winner will receive $100,000.
