Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede travels to Waterloo, Iowa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa this weekend to take on the Waterloo Black Hawks and Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The team is coming off a 1-2 Thanksgiving week, which included a 4-6 loss to the Black Hawks on Nov. 19.
With the first stop being at Young Arena in Waterloo, the team will meet with the Black Hawks for the third time this season. The series is split with one win for each team and Waterloo holding the most recent win. On Nov. 19, the Black Hawks defeated the Herd 6-4 in Sioux Falls. Prior to this meeting, the Stampede beat the Black Hawks during the Herd's Home Opener on Oct. 7, 7-4.
The Black Hawks are 10-8-0 this season and are currently on a four-game win streak. Following the matchup against the Stampede, the Black Hawks will head to Urbandale, Iowa to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers. Waterloo currently sits two points behind the Stampede in fifth place in the Western Conference. The Stampede has two more games played than the Black Hawks as well as one more regulation/overtime win.
Following Friday's game, the Herd heads to Cedar Rapids to take on the RoughRiders for the second, and final, time this season. The two teams opened up the regular season against each other at the USHL Fall Classic in Pittsburgh, Penn. on Sept. 20. The Herd took down the RoughRiders, 5-2, during this matchup at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
Saturday's game is the third of Cedar Rapids' five home game stretch between Nov. 25 and Dec. 9. The RoughRiders fell to Waterloo to start off the stretch and will face the Lincoln Stars on Friday. Cedar Rapids currently holds sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 19 points and needs two wins to tie with the Madison Capitols. They hold an 8-9-2-1 record with 20 games played and have gone 5-3-1-1 in the past 10 games.
Next week, the Herd is home for Teddy Bear Toss Night on Friday, Dec. 8 and Star Wars Night on Saturday, Dec. 9. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals to toss onto the ice for the Herd's first goal on Friday. Stuffed animals will be donated to local organizations that will, in turn, give them to community members. Star Wars Night hosts a 6:05 p.m. puck drop with a lineup of fun and entertainment for Star Wars fanatics and the rest of the galaxy. More information on both games will be available next week. Tickets for both games, plus all of the rest of the Stampede's home season, are available through the Stampede office, KELOLAND Box Office, and Ticketmaster outlets.
