Henrique Scores, Canada Routs Latvia 16-0 At 2010 IIHF WJHC Tournament And Panik Scores For Slovakia

(Saskatoon) Yesterday afternoon, Team Canada scored early and often in their opening game of the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships as they routed Latvia 16-0 in Saskatoon, SK. Windsor Spitfire forward Adam Henrique netted one goal for Team Canada, while Spitfire forward Taylor Hall and defenseman Ryan Ellis registered two points and one point respectively for Canada in the contest. Gabriel Bourque of Team Canada tied a team record with a seven-point performance for the five-time defending WJHC champions who will have the day off today before taking on Switzerland tomorrow at 3 pm EST. The game will be broadcast live on TSN.

In other world junior tournament action, Spitfire defenseman Cam Fowler posted one assist as Team USA defeated Team Slovakia 7-3 last night. Spitfire forward Richard Panik scored Slovakia's third goal in a losing effort.

USA will face off against Switzerland today at 3 pm EST, with Slovakia taking on Latvia at 7 pm EST.
