Helena Capitalizes on Voyager Errors

Helena, MT - The Voyagers allowed four runs in a difference-making third inning and committed four errors on the night in a 6-2 loss to the Brewers Wednesday at Kindrick Legion Field.

Great Falls (32-35, 10-19) fell to 5-9 in the season series with Helena. The Voyagers are now 12-21 on the road. Helena (32-36, 15-15) ended a three-game slide and improved to 17-16 at home.

The Brewers took an early lead with a single tally in the bottom of the first. Yeison Coca reached base with a two-out single popped up the right field line. David Fry drove in Coca with a triple deep to center.

The Voyagers tied the game with a run in the top of the third. Lenyn Sosa was hit by a pitch and later scored on a two-out RBI single to right-center for Amado Nunez.

The home half of the third proved too much to overcome as Helena sent eight men to the plate and scored four times for a 5-1 cushion. Je'Von Ward opened the frame with an infield single. Pablo Abreu singled to left. Yeison Coca loaded the bases with an infield single. David Fry drove in a run to break the tie on a base hit to center. Another run scored on a double play grounder back to the pitcher. Bryan Connell produced an RBI single to left. The final run of the inning scored on a throwing error by the second baseman. Both teams scored a single run in the sixth for the game's final margin.

Helena outhit Great Falls 12-to-7. David Fry bagged two hits with two RBIs. Yeison Coca had two hits and two runs scored. Amado Nunez and Ryan Fitzpatrick both posted two-hit games for the Voyagers. Nunez drove in a run and scored once. The Brewers finished 5-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

Caden Lemons earned the win on the mound with a career long five-inning start for the Brewers. Lemons (1-2) gave up just one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Davis Martin took the loss in relief. Martin (0-2) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
