
Heflin, Knight re-sign with Destroyers

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have re-signed defensive specialist Brandon Hefflin and wide receiver/defensive back Marcus Knight, team President David Paitson announced today. As is club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Hefflin (6-1, 185, Toledo) signed with the Destroyers after he attended an open tryout prior to the start of the 2005 season. He has become the Destroyers all-time leader in fumbles recovered with six and forced fumbles with four. He is second in tackles with 161.0 (134UT-54AT) to his credit. For the second consecutive season, Hefflin led the Destroyers in tackles in 2006. He had 84.0 tackles (69UT-30AT) with four fumble recoveries, three interceptions, eight pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Knight (6-1, 185, Michigan) returns for a second season after signing with the Destroyers on Mar. 13, 2006. Knight caught 32 passes for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, he added 18.0 tackles (17UT-2AT). In 26 career games, Knight has caught 140 passes for 1,700 yards and 30 touchdowns. He also has 40.5 tackles (35UT-11AT), three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two pass breakups.
The Destroyers 2007 season will kickoff in late January and run through May. The team is now accepting season ticket deposits from new customers for the 2007 season.
