Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES -- Wide receiver/defensive back Kevin Ingram and the Los Angeles Avengers have come to an agreement on a two-year contract that will keep the two-time "All-Arena" standout in Los Angeles through the 2008 season, head coach Ed Hodgkiss announced today.

Wide receiver/linebacker Rob Turner also re-signed with the Avengers on Friday, inking a two-year deal.

Ingram (6-0, 185, West Chester [Pa.]) led the Avengers in receptions (111), receiving yards (1,354), all-purpose yards (1,787), touchdowns (34), interceptions (five) and scoring (206 points) this past season. Following the 2005 campaign, he was selected as the AFL's "Ironman of the Year," the league's most prestigious individual honor.

In his previous six seasons in the AFL (five with the Avengers), Ingram has caught 333 passes for 3,980 yards and 92 touchdowns. He also has 273 tackles, 26 pass breakups, 23 interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), seven fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. In addition, Ingram excels on special teams, having returned 149 kicks for 2,738 yards and two scores.

"Kevin Ingram was our most important re-signing of the offseason," Hodgkiss said. "He arguably is considered the best wide receiver/defensive back in the game right now. I am very pleased to have him back with the Avengers, as he has been with me for his entire playing career. I look forward to him making more big plays for us in the future."

Turner (6-3, 200, Central Michigan) recently completed his second season with the Avengers. He played in seven games last season, seeing time at both the WR/LB and offensive specialist spots. He caught 22 passes for 212 yards and six touchdowns, and also finished with eight tackles. As an AFL rookie in 2005, Turner was hampered by injuries and played in only one game.

The best game of Turner's career occurred this past season when he had a 10-catch, three-touchdown performance in a 73-56 victory over the Nashville Kats on May 6.

"Rob Turner came on strong for us at the end of the season," Hodgkiss said. "His athletic ability gives us a valuable asset in the red zone. We look forward to Rob playing a very big role for us in the future."

These two signings mean that the Avengers now have 22 players on their active roster under contract. Ingram and Turner would have become free agents if they had not re-signed with the Avengers by today. Each AFL team had until June 30 to exclusively negotiate with its own players eligible for free agency.

Season tickets for the 2007 campaign, which begins in January, are on sale now and available by calling 888-AVENGERS or visiting www.laavengers.com.
