Vermont Frost Heaves News Release
FROST HEAVES, EXPRESS, TO PARTNER ON TRYOUT CAMP ABA Champs and Morris County's new team to share audition in Wayne South Burlington, Vt.-The ABA Champion Vermont Frost Heaves and the Jersey Express will jointly stage an open tryout camp in the heart of Morris County over the weekend of July 14 and 15.
After two seasons in Newark, Express owners Marsha Blount and Jacqui Halyard announced in mid-June that the team would move to Morris County, N.J.
"At the time Marsha and Jacqui announced their relocation to Morris County, we'd already been working for some time on arrangements for a tryout camp in the Wayne P.A.L. Gym," said Vermont president and G.M. Alexander Wolff. "Now that the Express' move from Newark is official, it only makes sense to partner with them on this event. It cements one of our valued relationships in the Northeast of the ABA, and gives aspiring ballplayers in the metro New York region that many more opportunities to hook on with a pro team."
Frost Heaves coach Will Voigt and at least one representative of the Express coaching staff will evaluate aspiring players as they go through their paces between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both sessions will be open to the public.
Prospects will be charged a fee of $100 at the door. Applicants must be at least 18 years old on July 14th, 2007 to participate. Hotel accommodations at the nearby La Quinta Inn and Suites are available for $89 per night.
For more information on the camp and to register, contact Frost Heaves coach Will Voigt at 802-578-4172. Or e-mail Coach Voigt at will@vermontfrostheaves.com .
The Express will play its 2007-08 season at Baldwin Gym on the campus of Drew University in Madison, N.J. The Frost Heaves will begin their title defense at Montreal on Nov. 9, and once again split their 18 home games between downtown auditoriums in Barre and Burlington, Vt.
