Heaves, Burks, Both Get Back on Beam

Barre, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves and forward Antonio Burks both broke out of slumps during a 118-94 defeat of Quebec on Saturday afternoon at the Barre Municipal Auditorium.

Burks, who sank six of his seven three-pointers in the first half, led six Vermont players in double figures with 27 points and six rebounds as the defending ABA Champs ended a two-game losing streak. Issa Konare added 16 points and nine boards, while Brett Gravitt (15), Markus Austin (14), newcomer Dwuan Rice (13) and John Bryant (12) all joined Burks in the scoring parade. Erik Nelson took down 13 rebounds and Dwayne Lee contributed 10 assists.

Samuel Audet-Sow had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Kebekwa.

Vermont (7-2) will play at Halifax on Wednesday, Dec. 12, with tip-off set for 7:15 p.m. The Frost Heaves return to the Green Mountain State on Sunday, Dec. 16, for a 4:05 p.m. date with the Manchester Millrats, the No. 1 team in the ABA Power Rankings and the team that has tagged Vermont with both of its defeats this season.
