November 4, 2002 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Harrisburg Heat News Release

The Heat went 1-1 in its first two home games of the 2002-03 MISL season this past weekend, and the club enters the week at 3-3, tied for second place in the league's Eastern Conference.

On Saturday, Harrisburg exploded for a season-high 18 points in an 18-14 win over the Dallas Sidekicks. Ato Leone and Marco Coria both scored six points (3pg, 2pg, assist) in the win, Matt Tanzini assisted on three Heat scores. Doug Petras saved 14 of 20 shots in goal for the win as Harrisburg improved to 8-4 all-time in home openers.

It was a very different story on Sunday, however, as Philadelphia's Don D'Ambra ended a defensive struggle with a head ball goal just 8 seconds into overtime, giving the KiXX a 6-4 victory. Genoni Martinez and Renato Pereira scored the two Heat goals and Raul Salas took the loss in net in a game that featured only 31 total shots on goal (17 for Philadelphia, 14 for Harrisburg). The Heat is now 0-2 against the defending champion KiXX this year.

Harrisburg will face the Kansas City Comets for the first time this season on Sunday, November 10 (6:05 p.m. kickoff).

Including this weekend, the Heat is facing a very hospitable stretch where the team will play ten of its next fourteen games in the friendly confines of the Farm Show Arena.

ODDS AND ENDS:

- Genoni Martinez continues his hot streak as well. The 27-year old defender scored 2 goals and 5 points while blocking 5 shots this weekend. Martinez has scored 4 goals and 12 points and blocked 12 shots in 6 games this year. He needs only six more points to hit 400 for his career.

- Saturday's contest against Dallas marked the first time this year that the Heat has been outscored (10-9) in the second half of a game.

- The Heat has been assessed only 8 penalty minutes this season, while Harrisburg's opponents have accrued 27 minutes in penalties.
