Harrisburg Heat News Release
The Professional Arena Soccer League has announced the sale of the Harrisburg Heat to longtime indoor soccer broadcaster John Wilsbach.
After a 9 year absence, the Heat were re-established and owned by the PASL during the 2012-13 season. Wilsbach, a Middletown PA native, served as Vice President during the team's first season back. He is also well known as an area traffic announcer for Cumulus Harrisburg radio stations.
"The PASL is pleased to have a local owner in Harrisburg. John Wilsbach's 22 years of indoor soccer experience with teams in Hershey, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia make him the best person to help solidify the team in Central PA," said PASL Commissioner Kevin Milliken.
Outgoing Heat Managing Partner David Grimaldi echoed Milliken's comments. "John worked very closely with me, and the league, to bring indoor soccer back to Harrisburg. He's the right person to successfully lead this franchise in the future!"
The team ownership will be known as the Heat Soccer Group, LLC. Wilsbach is the CEO/President. Current sales manager Jacob Stahl, a native of Swatara Twp., has been named the team's General Manager and plans to eventually join the ownership group. Grimaldi will remain with the team and Sports City Harrisburg as a consultant.
"I'm excited about this great opportunity," said Wilsbach. "Central PA is one of the best minor league sports markets in the country. With the help of our growing fan base and business partners, the Heat will be a big part of it."
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. Team offices will remain at Sports City Harrisburg. The Heat will play a 10 game home schedule with the home opener set for Saturday, November 16 at the Equine Arena of the Farm Show Complex.
