Heat Sign Tuzzolino

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat announced today they have signed defenceman Nick Tuzzolino to an AHL contract for the 2012-13 season.

"Nick's consistent play with the Utah Grizzlies during the 2011-12 regular season put him in a position to be with us on a full-time basis from the end of March through the conclusion of last season's playoffs" noted Heat Head Coach Troy G. Ward of the 26-year-old Buffalo product. "Nick uses his size well and provided us with steady play over the final two months of the season. We are extremely excited about Nick being back with us for the 2012-13 season."

Tuzzolino attended Heat Training Camp last September before playing sixty games with the Utah Grizzlies (Abbotsford's ECHL affiliate) where he served as captain, The 6'5", 225 pound rear-guard recorded seven goals, twenty-six points, and one hundred seventy-six penalty minutes in the East Coast Hockey League and earned three goals, six points, and thirty penalty minutes in sixteen regular season AHL games during two call-up stints with Abbotsford and one with the Lake Erie Monsters. Tuzzolino also appeared in seven of the Heat's eight Calder Cup Playoff Games last Spring.
