Harrisburg Heat News Release

Philadelphia, PA - An injury-riddled Harrisburg Heat squad went into Philadelphia on Saturday night with only 13 players in uniform, aspiring to hand the first-place KiXX their first home loss of the season, but fatigue proved the downfall for an undermanned Heat unit in a 10-6 defeat at the First Union Spectrum. With the team's fifth straight loss, Harrisburg drops to 9-14 on the season, while Philadelphia improves to a league-best 17-3 with their 11th straight win.

After a scoreless first quarter, Goran Vasic recorded the first points of the game 51 seconds into the second, when he deflected a hurried clearance from Heat keeper Raul Salas (14 saves in the loss) into the net for a 2-0 KiXX lead. Philly added a 2pg from Chris Handsor at 9:25 to make it 4-0 before the Heat's Horacio Robledo cracked home the rebound of a Ze Roberto shot at 14:31, and the hosts led 4-2 at the half.

Philadelphia's Tony McPeak poked home a 2pg at 9:06 to account for the third quarter's only scoring, and Hansdor make it 8-2 with his second deuce of the night at 1:51 of the fourth. KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra and the Heat's Chris Morman traded 2pgs at 8:44 and 11:22, respectively, to create a 10-4 score with just under four minutes to go. A handful of late Heat flurries created only Genoni Martinez's consolation goal with 10 seconds left, and the KiXX took the 10-6 win.

Peter Pappas got the win in goal for the KiXX with 10 saves.

NOTES: Harrisburg is 0-4 against the KiXX this year; those four losses have come by a total of 11 points...The Heat will now begin a three-game homestand, starting when the Cleveland Force visits the Farm Show Arena next Saturday, January 25. Kickoff is 7:35 p.m.
