Harrisburg Heat News Release

Harrisburg, PA - Doug Petras made 30 saves and Marco "Chikis" Lopez scored three goals, but a lopsided third quarter proved the team's undoing as the Harrisburg Heat dropped a 15-10 decision to the Kansas City Comets in front of 2,527 fans at the Farm Show Arena on Sunday night. Harrisburg drops to 4-4 with the loss, while Kansas City improves to 4-5 with its third straight win.

Harrisburg built an early 6-0 lead, using first-quarter 2pgs from Lopez (4:13), David Barbosa (9:45), and Lopez again (12:02) to surge in front. That lead held into halftime.

The Comets came out firing in the third quarter, stealing the momentum for good. Beginning with Nikola Vignjevic's 2pg at 3:23 and ending with Nate Houser's deuce at 1:46 of the fourth (the eventual game-winner), K.C. scored 12 unanswered points to assume an insurmountable 12-6 lead. Harrisburg tried to claw back but could only muster Lopez's third 2pg of the game, at 2:49, to come within 12-8.

Martin Hernandez entered the game as the sixth attacker with just over two minutes to play, but shortly thereafter Kansas City's Nino DaSilva pounced on a loose ball and lofted it into an empty net for a rally-killing 3pg to make it 15-8. Ato Leone's late 2pg for the Heat (at 13:17) created the final 15-10 score as Harrisburg fell back to the .500 mark.
