Heat Contest Rescheduled
January 13, 2003 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Harrisburg Heat News Release
The Heat's contest originally scheduled for this Sunday, January 19 at 5:05 p.m. has been re-scheduled for Saturday, January 18 at 7:05 p.m., the KiXX and Major Indoor Soccer League announced today.
The decision was made with the safety and convenience of KiXX and Heat fans in mind; the Philadelphia Eagles host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Veterans Stadium in the NFC title game on Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
Harrisburg is winless (0-3) against the KiXX this season, but the Heat has lost those three games by a combined seven points.
Following this Saturday's game, the Heat comes back to the Farm Show for a three-game homestand that will feature games against Cleveland (January 25), Milwaukee (January 31), and the KiXX (February 1).
HEAT RECORD AT A GLANCE:
Overall: 9-13, 3rd place in the Eastern Conference
Home: 7-5
Road: 2-8
vs. Eastern Conference: 4-7
vs. Western Conference: 5-6
THE WEEK THAT WAS: The Heat saw its losing streak reach four games with a pair of road losses last week, 13-12 to the Cleveland Force at The Convo on January 10, and 19-13 to the Milwaukee Wave on January 11 at the Bradley Center. Harrisburg enters the week at 9-13, eight and a half games behind first-place Philadelphia and two and a half games behind second-place Cleveland.
The Heat fought from behind to assume a 12-11 lead at 9:17 of the fourth quarter in Cleveland on Friday, but John Ball's goal with just 34 seconds left (after the Force had just killed a two-minute penalty) gave the Force the win, and overshadowed a seven-point performance (three 2pgs, assist) from Harrisburg's Ato Leone. David Bascome, Marco "Chikis" Lopez, and Marco Coria scored the other Heat goals. Raul Salas (11 saves) fell to 0-5 in goal.
And on Saturday in Milwaukee, the Heat fell behind 13-4 at halftime and 17-9 after three quarters in a 19-13 loss to the Western Conference-leading Wave. Goalkeeper Chris Damico, who signed with the Heat on January 7, stopped 16 of 24 shots in his first start for Harrisburg, and Chris Morman led all Heat scorers with a 3pg and an assist for four points.
