Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

TORONTO, ON — It was a tough loss for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors this evening against their archrivals, the Mississauga IceDogs. The Majors got their third goal to tie up the game with three-and-a-half minutes to play, only to watch the IceDogs produce the go-ahead tally with 1:06 left. The visitors added an empty-netter to skate off with a 5-3 win.

Jordan Owens got the IceDogs rolling 1:27 into the game off of Brandon Elliott and Vladimir Svacina feeds. However, Cal Clutterbuck tied things up for the Majors, on an individual effort at 16:59 of the opening frame.

The Majors took the lead 3:32 into the 2nd period, on the power-play, when Nathan McIver connected off of Jamie Vanderveeken and Matt Halischuk passes. However, the IceDogs responded with two 2nd period, man-advantage strikes of their own, at 6:57 and 9:46. Adam Abraham and Tom Zanoski got the goals while Patrick O'Sullivan (2), Kyle Quincey and Anthony Butera did the setting-up.

As was mentioned above, Ryan Wilson tied up the game for the Majors at 16:36 of the 3rd period, with Cory Vitarelli and Darryl Boyce getting credited with the assists. Yet, Owens bounced right back for the IceDogs and Zanoski popped home the empty-netter with seven seconds to play. O'Sullivan captured two more assists on these goals, with Butera and Cody Bass adding singles.
