Knights start at the top

The Canadian Hockey League today announced the first BMO Bank of Montreal CHL Top 10 Rankings for the 2004-05 season. The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League's top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

The London Knights (8-0-0-0) returned to the BMO Top-10 after spending 21 straight weeks at the top of the standings in 2003-04. The Knights, who host the 2005 MasterCard Memorial Cup in May, have exploded out of the gate with eight straight wins. Veteran centre Corey Perry is the OHL's top scorer with eight goals and 20 points in eight games.

The Chicoutimi Sagueneens (9-2-1-1) have won three straight games and lead the QMJHL with nine wins so far this season. Forwards Stanislav Lascek, Maxime Boisclair and David Desharnais are three of the top four scorers in the league. The trio has combined for 25 goals in 13 games.

The Medicine Hat Tigers started defence of their Western Hockey League championship with a 6-1-0-0 start to the season. Goaltender Kevin Nastiuk already has five wins this season and is second in the WHL with a 1.33 goals against average. Clarke MacArtuhur was the WHL player of the week after racking up seven points in three games last week.
