Chicago Bandits News Release
ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have come to terms with southpaw Haylie Wagner on a 1-year deal, the club announced Friday afternoon.
The former University of Michigan Wolverine started her professional career with the Pennsylvania Rebellion (NPF 2013-2017). She made 41 starts for the Rebellion and served as one of the team's most-utilized arms. Wagner joined the Bandits as a free agent following the Rebellion's dissolution in January 2017, signing a two-year contract extension on Oct. 2, 2017.
"Haylie's character on and off the field demonstrates exactly what it means to be a Bandit," General Manager Toni Calmeyn said. "We couldn't be happier to have her back in the circle for this ball club."
In her three seasons with the Bandits, Wagner has earned a team-high 25 wins. She's struck out 107 batters, and has a career 2.13 ERA in regular season play for Chicago. Wagner took the circle in postseason play for the first time this last summer in relief of Rachele Fico after facing the final batter of her career.
"I could not be more excited to be spending my 6th NPF season with the Bandits!" said Wagner in a statement. "The Bandits organization has been nothing but amazing, and I am excited to get back to Rosemont to compete in the orange and black again!"
Wagner doesn't leave softball in Rosemont at season's end -- she's currently serving as Graduate Softball Manager for her alma mater.
The four-time champion Chicago Bandits will be back at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the 2020 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits, the NPF's new schedule format, or to reserve season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722- 6348.
