
Hawks Survive Knoxville Comeback

Knoxville, TN--The Knoxville Ice Bears tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Augusta RiverHawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.
Augusta made the score 4-1 on a goal by Pat Schafer at 15:06 in the third period, and Knoxville got as close as 4-3 when Nate Peterson scored 17:36 into the third period.
The RiverHawks were helped by William Lacasse, who registered one goal. Lacasse scored 3:22 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Augusta. Ian Watters picked up the assist. Augusta additionally got points from Shawn Skelly, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chad Ziegler also scored for Augusta. More assists for Augusta came via Jason Price, Dennis Sicard, and Ian Jensen, who contributed one a piece.
The Ice Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Augusta power plays. With 49 shots on target during the contest, Knoxville exceeded the 32.1 shots it averages per game this year.
The Ice Bears were helped by Berkley Scott, who racked up one goal. Scott scored on the power play 16:18 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A cross checking penalty on Ziegler had put Knoxville on the power play. Eric Satim provided the assist. Knoxville also got a goal from Peter Neal as well. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Jeremy Klaver, Tyler Fernandez, Jon Higgins, and Emery Olauson, who each chipped in one.
Robbie Moss made 46 saves for Augusta on 49 shots. The RiverHawks ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Ice Bears' Connor Toomey stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Knoxville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play.
