
Hawks Snap Three Game Losing Skid

Eric Campbell's two out, bases loaded double in the in the bottom of the sixth inning plated three and helped the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks snap a three-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over the Kansas City T-Bones on Monday night at Newman Outdoor Field. The win also moved Fargo-Moorhead into a first place tie with the T-Bones atop the Northern League standings.
The RedHawks (41-29) found themselves down 5-2 after just four innings. Kansas City made Fargo-Moorhead starter Scott Fogelson work hard on a hot and muggy evening. The southpaw threw 114 pitches in 5.1 innings of action. He gave up five runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out two and walking three.
Keanon Simon and Rico Washington had RBI-singles for the T-Bones in the second inning. Jacob Blackwell hit a two-run home run, his 21st of the season, in the fourth.
Mike Coles had an RBI-single for Fargo-Moorhead in the sixth inning and Nic Jackson drew a walk to load the bases and set up Campbell's clutch hit.
Kansas City (42-30) starter Andrew Cruse (8-4) also worked hard on the night, throwing 115 pitches. He took the loss after giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out two and walking three.
Matt Petrusek (1-2) pitched 1.1 innings of perfect relief to earn his first win as a RedHawk. Cory Patton came on to throw one pitch in the ninth and pick up his fourth save of the season.
Designated hitter Kole Zimmerman was 3-for-3 at the plate for Fargo-Moorhead while teammate Nic Jackson drove in a pair of runs.
Kansas City's Jacob Blackwood was 2-for-4 and knocked in two runs. T-Bones leadoff man Simon had a 2-for-5 night and also picked up an RBI. Ray Sadler hit his 13th home run of the season in the top of the ninth inning.
The two teams will meet tomorrow night in the second game of their four-game series. Reid Santos (4-3, 4.62) is scheduled to meet Matt Mossey (5-3, 4.15). First pitch is at 7:02pm.
