Sussex Skyhawks News Release

Augusta, N.J. - July 24, 2010 - The Sussex Skyhawks are proud to announce the signing of outfielder Vincent Blue, a 10th-round pick (297th overall) of the Detroit Tigers in the 2001 Major League Baseball amateur entry draft. The 27-year-old Blue was selected out of Lamar High School at the age of 18 and is in his 10th season of professional baseball.

Blue batted .297 with 50 RBI and 40 stolen bases in 124 games for Class A Lakeland in 2005. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound veteran spent six full seasons and part of a seventh in Detroit's minor league system, reaching as high as Triple-A Toledo in 2007. A native of Houston, Texas, Blue played in the Lone Star State for the Edinburg Roadrunners of United League Baseball last season and batted .285 with a .414 on-base percentage, 41 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 73 games.

Blue joins the Skyhawks in the aftermath of injuries to outfielders Khyle Dimino (undisclosed, placed on disabled list July 19 retroactive to July 18) and Carl Loadenthal (slight groin pull, still active).

To make room for the new outfielder, Sussex released rookie right-hander Michael Streaman. The Montclair State graduate pitched 13 innings and accumulated a 4.15 ERA in seven relief appearances for the Skyhawks after signing with the club on June 25.
