Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-While the Waterloo Black Hawks may have suffered a disappointing end on Friday, the game at Young Arena was highlighted by a big win for Hawks fan Missy Schilling.
During the second intermission, the Dunkerton native hit the target on center ice with a toss from the stands to claim the Silver Eagle Harley Davidson Yamaha chuck-a-puck jackpot. With no grand prize winners during the first eight home games of the season, Schilling won a progressive prize which had climbed to $450.
"It was an amazing toss to score $450 just in time for the holidays," said stadium announcer Craig Laue, who was standing just a few feet away when the winning foam rubber puck came to rest.
"It was almost dead-center on the spot," Laue added.
The jackpot will reset again at $50 on Saturday when the Hawks host the Omaha Lancers at 7:05PM. It will increase by $50 each time the cash prize is not claimed. All fans in attendance are invited to show their skills, with Silver Eagle Harley Davidson Yamaha chuck-a-pucks available for $1. While Schilling was the first chuck-a-puck grand prize winner of the season, dozens of other fans have won terrific prizes from additional participating sponsors. Silver Eagle Harley Davidson Yamaha chuck-a-puck is played after the second period during each Black Hawks home game.
