Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Fans at tomorrow night's Dubuque Fighting Saints game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will get a taste of frat boy nostalgia as the team pays tribute to the 2003 Will Ferrell comedy "Old School". The first 1,000 fans who enter the Mystique Community Ice Center will receive free Fighting Saints Earmuffs (photo attached) - suitable both for the cold Iowa winter and for muting a conversation.

In addition to the usual prizes for fans who participate in the in-game promotional contests, winners of the contests throughout the game will receive a breadmaker (it has three speeds) - though the same breadmaker is likely to make more than one appearance as a re-gifted prize in contests throughout the night. Fans will also have opportunities to snag gift cards to the Home Depot and Bed Bath and Beyond ("I don't know if we'll have time") to provide a "nice little Saturday" of errands for some of the more domesticated Fighting Saints fans.

As they walk throughout the Mystique Community Ice Center, fans will notice several references to the film throughout the arena. Ropes with cement blocks tied to the lower end of them will hang from the upper concourse of the arena down to the lower level. Fortunately for Fighting Saints team interns, nothing will be tied to the opposite end. Mitch-a-palooza of the film will become Monty-palooza in Dubuque - honoring Fighting Saints Head Coach Jim Montgomery with a party featuring "LIVE HOCKEY, BEER".

During the second period, Bernie the Saint Bernard, the Fighting Saints mascot, will perform an interpretive ribbon-twirling dance on the ice to "Chariots of Fire". Out of respect for Joseph "Blue" Palasky, the Fighting Saints organization has elected to forgo KY Jelly wrestling matches at the game.

In the unlikely event that fans should have complaints about the evening, they will be able to write down any concerns on paper and pin them to the "Tree of Trust and Understanding" that the team will set up in the arena.

The Fighting Saints play Cedar Rapids at 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Tickets for the game, and all Fighting Saints home games, are available at DubuqueFightingSaints.com, by calling (563) 583-6880, and at the Mystique Community Ice Center Box Office.
