Hawks Beef Up Their Ranks

March 22, 2007 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Everett Hawks News Release

EVERETT - In an attempt to bolster their offensive and defensive lines heading into the season, the Everett Hawks have announced than OL/DL Chuck Jones and DL Johnny Jackson have been assigned to the team by the arenafootball2 league office.

Hawks Head Coach Cedric Walker spoke about the Hawks' need to add a few linemen to strengthen and add depth to the group after last Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage. The hope is Jones and Jackson can do just that. Jones (6-4, 310) is back for his second tour of duty with the Hawks. Last season, he split time between the Hawks and the division rival Spokane Shock. Jones, a product of Portland State, appeared in four games for the Hawks, collecting six tackles and a sack.

Johnny Jackson (6-3, 270) played his college ball at Arizona, where he recorded 32 tackles, 6.0 sacks and an interception during his senior year in 2001. Jackson gives Coach Walker another big bodied defensive end with an impressive collegiate pedigree to add mix in with his current rotation, led by former Arkansas Twisters standout Shakorr Bryant.

"They're going to bring intensity," Coach Walker said. "Chuck has had some great practices. He understands what we're looking for and what his role is on the team. Johnny is going to make us more athletic, can really rush the passer and play multiple positions on the line."
