Texas Copperheads News Release

HOUSTON- The Texas Copperheads opened Mini Camp 2007 on Saturday March 16th and started Camp on Tuesday, March 20th continues through Friday, March 30th. All practices are held at the Berry Center and are open to the public. Members of the media are welcome and encouraged to attend.

With being a new team in af2 coaches and players have gone though a period of getting to know one another and prepare for a successful campaign. But with players like former AFL and af2 standout kicker Nick Gatto and former Colorado Crush veteran quarterback Todd Hammel as Offensive Coordinator the team will have established arena football ties.

"The leadership our staff brings to the table will set a solid foundation for Copperheads football," added Head Coach Bryan Blake.

Copperheads Crunch notes: The team has been focusing on quarterbacks, agility drills and overall conditioning early. "When my team takes the fourth quarter our team will have the stamina to finish all four quarters," noted Blake.

"Players are evaluated every day they go out on the field," he said. "They either get better or worse but this is a teaching camp, and a competition camp. To earn a spot on this time you will have to earn it."

A few players had a few scrapes and pulled muscles which are expected as they work back into playing shape."

Copperheads Tickets are available at the Copperheads office and online at ticketmaster.com. Individual tickets start at just $9. Special discounts are available to corporate partners and special groups of 20 or more. To purchase tickets by phone, dial 888-897-FANG.
