Hawks Battle Bucs for 4-2 Win
November 11, 2006 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
A capacity crowd at Young Arena had reason to cheer as Josh Turnbull and Matt Arhontas led Waterloo past Des Moines 4-2 on Saturday.
Arhontas set up Turnbull for the only goal of the first period, a wrist shot shelved in the top corner of the net. After Des Moines tied the game in the early second, Arhontas found Turnbull again during a five-on-three powerplay. The Black Hawks would be called on to break another tie nearing the end of regulation; this time it was Turnbull setting up Brett Barta for what would prove to be the game-winner. Arhontas added a late goal after a feed from Anthony Schooley; the opportunity was created when Turnbull stole a puck at the Des Moines blueline.
A college weekend should mean another big, loud crowd at Young Arena Friday and Saturday when the Indiana Ice come to Partytown. The Eastern Division-leading Black Hawks will host the team that kept them out of the playoffs last season. Both games are college nights and all students with ID will be admitted for $5. On Saturday, Crazy George, inventor of the wave, will also be on hand to pump up the fans.
