Hawks Announce Promotional Alteration
December 1, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - This afternoon, Waterloo Black Hawks announced a change to the team's promotional schedule affecting Military Appreciation Weekend, which had previously been planned for this Friday and Saturday.
This season's patriotic jerseys, presented by American Pattern & CNC Works, will now be worn on January 22nd when the Hawks host the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. A jersey auction will be conducted after that game.
The Black Hawks provided the following statement, elaborating on this change:
There were a number of considerations that factored into this decision, the most important being a conflict with another military-themed event and fundraiser in the Cedar Valley on Saturday night. Americans for Independent Living (AFIL) is hosting their "Music with a Mission" event on December 4th, raising funds to empower veterans-in-need by providing home modifications, household items and furniture, or transitional housing. Instead of asking veterans and other AFIL supporters to choose between the events, both the Black Hawks and presenting sponsor American Pattern & CNC Works thought it would be best to make this change. However, the Black Hawks will still honor the complimentary ticket offer to all veterans and active military personnel for both games this weekend, along with the rescheduled Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, January 22nd. Proceeds from the jersey auction that night will still benefitt AFIL. To learn more about AFIL's "Music with a Mission" event this Saturday, visit www.afil.org.
