Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - "I'm a hockey player, but I'm playing golf today."
To honor the 20th anniversary of Adam Sandler's classic golf/hockey 1996 crossover film Happy Gilmore, the Waterloo Black Hawks are hosting Happy Gilmore Night on Friday, April 8th, presented by Waterloo Golf Headquarters.
During the game, reenactments of several scenes from the movie featuring Waterloo Black Hawks players and staff will be shown on the Young Arena video scoreboard. The Hawks will also have a series of contests and activities associated with the movie, including an intermission putting game, the chance to do The Happy Dance on the big screen, a "The Price Is Wrong" activity, and the team will give fans an opportunity to win variety of prizes from Happy Gilmore's favorite sandwich shop, Subway.
"This is going to be way more fun than going to Sizzler or getting hit by a Volkswagen," said Waterloo Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. "We've only just begun to tell you about the ways this will be a great night to be in Party Town, and we want to thank Waterloo Golf Headquarters for helping us put it on."
Friday's game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will also be highlighted by a Black Hawks Alumni Series Brandon Montour Stadium Cup giveaway to the first 500 fans, presented by Beck's Taproom Grill and Hurricane Grill & Wings. The Subway Family Four Pack is also available for the final time this season, including four white zone game tickets, vouchers for four Subway combos, four chuck-a-pucks and two One-Timer game programs for just $49.
Tickets for the game are going fast but are still currently available from the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or online from waterlooblackhawks.com.
