WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Hat Tricks fumbled two leads in the third period but picked up a point in a 3-2 overtime defeat to Carolina on Friday.

Despite the loss, the Hat Tricks have wins in seven of the last ten games and five of the last seven away from home.

Hat Tricks goalie Liam Murray, in his fifth start of the season, made 49 saves on 52 shots.

The Hat Tricks held a 1-0 lead through two periods thanks to Zach Pamaylaon's fourth goal of the season at 14:09 of the first.

At 8:18 of the second period, the Hat Tricks appeared to go up 2-0 on Brandon Stojcevski's wrist shot inside the left post, but upon review the goal was waved off due to a double-minor high sticking penalty that occurred prior to the puck going in.

About a minute and a half into the third, with the Hat Tricks leading by one, Carolina evened the score when Josh Koepplinger sniped one off the crossbar and down.

The Hat Tricks answered about six minutes later when Jarod Yau, who had missed the previous two games with an upper-body injury, tapped home the go-ahead goal to regain the Hat Tricks' one goal advantage.

With about two minutes remaining in regulation, Carolina's Jan Salak knuckled the game-tying goal over Murray's shoulder and into the top right corner to force overtime.

In OT, Koepplinger wacked home a rebound in the crease for his second goal of the night and the overtime winner.

The Hat Tricks finish up the two-game road series with Carolina Saturday night. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
