Hartford City FC News Release
FARMINGTON, Conn. (August 27, 2015) - Hartford City F.C. will hold an open tryout Saturday, August 29 at the Farmington Sports Arena from 10 am-12 noon. Players will be arriving at 9 am to register.
More than 50 players have pre-registered in advance of the tryout, with others expected to sign up on site. The field consists of local standout players from Connecticut and Massachusetts colleges and club soccer teams, as well as a number of professional players from around the Major Arena Soccer League and other pro leagues across the country.
Hartford City F.C. head coach Paul Wright is familiar with many of the trialists, and has scouted a number of others. "We know there will be some quality players, and hopefully we'll find some promising surprises among the rest of the pool," Wright said. "The open tryout is only one phase in creating our team. The goal is to find a solid group of players to invite back to training with us in September where they'll compete for roster spots alongside our other prospects."
The team's first signing Tom Williams, veteran English league player, was announced along with the introduction of the team on August 12. Williams is expected to play a leadership role within the club and will take part in the tryout process this weekend.
Details of the Hartford City F.C. schedule will be released in the coming weeks. Ten home games will be played at the XL Center between November 1, 2015 and February 28, 2016. Hartford City FC have begun accepting season ticket deposits through their web site at http://www.hartfordcityfc.com.
