Hartford City FC Sign Impact Trio from Folded Rochester Lancers

HARTFORD - Hartford City FC took another step in building out the roster for their inaugural season in the Major Arena Soccer League by signing Joey Tavernese, and twins Jayme and Joey Kapinos. All three players were integral contributors to a Rochester Lancers organization that reached the Eastern Division finals last March.
JOEY TAVERNESE
The 2014-15 season was a breakout year for Tavernese. His 28 goals and 20 assists earned him the team's Offensive Player of the Year award. He was also named to the MASL Team of the Week after a March 1 performance in which he tallied 4 goals and 2 assists versus the Baltimore Blast.
A tireless player who can set up goals as well as finish them, here's what Hartford City FC head coach Paul Wright had to say about Tavernese: "I expect Joey to lead our attack and be a constant threat going forward. He is a player that will rarely be outworked and will provide us with valuable MASL experience."
Since the conclusion of the MASL season, Tavernese has played for Icon FC (New Jersey) of the ASL. The Garden City, NY native was a mainstay of the Siena College program from 2007-2010. He's enjoyed professional stints with FC New York (USL), Armadale SC (Australia), and Antigua GFC (Guatemala).
JOEY KAPINOS
Kapinos is a proven goalkeeper with 41 starts in the MASL over three seasons. He amassed 584 saves, boasting a .715 save percentage while representing the Rochester Lancers (2014-15) and the Detroit Waza Flo (2012-13, 2013-14).
His first year in the league, Joey set the Detroit club record for wins in a season with 13, helping the team to a US Arena Open Cup championship and earning himself all league 2nd team plaudits. He has also represented the US Futsal National Team during the 2015 WMF World Cup.
Joey competed for the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer program from 2008-2011, where he holds the record for lowest goals against average (.406).
Coach Wright on Kapinos: "Joey is an exceptional goalkeeper who brings a wealth of experience to the team. He is a great communicator and we will be counting on his leadership this season."
JAYME KAPINOS
The Ludlow, MA native is an experienced two-way player who has also competed for the Rochester Lancers (2014-15) and Detroit Waza Flo (2013-14). In just two seasons Jayme Kapinos has played in 22 games, contributing 3 goals, 5 assists and 20 blocked shots.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Kapinos was one of the most integral players in Southern New Hampshire University's men's soccer program from 2008-2011. He was named to the Northeast-10 all-rookie team in 2008, 2nd team in 2010, and in 2011 he was named to both the conference 1st team and the All-East Region team.
Coach Wright on Kapinos: "Jayme is a strong defender, a consistent performer with prior playoff experience in the MASL. We expect him to play an important role as we prepare for competition in this league."
