Hart Deals and Smokies Slam Long Balls in 8-0 Win

Huntsville, AL- Tennessee jumped on Huntsville early and often Thursday on route to an 8-0 shutout win. Matt Craig drove in the first two Smokies runs with a first inning sacrifice fly and a third frame homerun.

Jake Fox cracked his 17th round tripper to grow the advantage to 3-0. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart gave up a flare single to the first batter of the game and did not allow another in his six inning start. He would walk only one with six strikeouts.

Tennessee blew the game wide open in the seventh as Jemel Spearman led the inning off with a solo homerun. Tyler Colvin then with two out sent his first homerun as a Smokie over the left-centerfield wall for a three-run shot.

Grant Johnson pitched the final three innings yielding only a hit and two walks for the games save.

The Smokies will start Mark Holliman (7-6) tomorrow night while the Stars will counter with Sam Narron (3-6). Tennessee will be back at Smokies Park for a five game series with the Mobile Baybears starting on July 11th. Tickets can be purchased by calling 286-2300 or online a smokiesbaseball.com
